Genesis 2:1-25 

Lesson 2 – God Prepared Paradise for Mankind

Key verse 2:8 “And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed.”

1.Read verses 1-3. What did God do on the seventh day? (2) Why did He bless the seventh day and make it holy? (3, Mark 2:27) How can we celebrate God and His work of creation on the seventh day and find true rest? (Psalm 92:1-5; Matthew 11:28-29)

2.Read verses 4-7. How did God create man? (7) How did man become a living creature and what does it mean? What does this teach us about God as the Creator of man, who personally formed and breathed life into man? (Psalm 139:13-16)

3.Read verses 8-14. What did God do for man and why? (8) What was in the garden? (9-14) What does God’s provision suggest about man’s nature and needs? What can we learn about God who made the garden for man?

4.Read verses 15-17. How did God show His generous provision to man? (16) How does God’s command establish spiritual order? (17) Why was it necessary for man’s happiness? What was the consequence about which God warned man? 

5.Read verses 18-25. What was one thing in the garden that was not good in God’s eyes? (18a) For what purpose was woman created? What does verse 24 show us about how God designed marriage to work? How can verse 24 guide someone who is preparing for marriage or already married? What does verse 25 reveal about the relationship between Adam and Eve, and how can it speak to us today?
