1.Read verses 1-7. Whom does the serpent represent? (Rev 12:9) What are the characteristics of his nature? (3:1; Jn 8:44) How did the serpent tempt the woman? How did the woman tempt the man? What was the immediate result of their eating the fruit? (7)
2.Read verses 8-13. When they heard God coming, what did they do and why? (8) How and why did God call? (9) What was Adam’s answer? (10) How do these verses show the tragedy of sin? (10, 12-13)
3.Read verses 14-19. How did God curse the serpent? (14-15) What was the consequence of the woman’s sin? (16) What was the consequence of the man’s sin? (17-19) How does God’s promise in 3:15 give hope to mankind? (Gal 3:13; Heb 2:14; Col 1:13-14)
4.Read verses 20-24. What did the man name his wife and what does this show about his faith in God’s promise? (20) In what way did God show His love for fallen man? (21) Why did God drive them from the garden? Why did God not destroy the garden or the tree of life? (24) What hope does this give? (Rev 2:7; Rev 22:2, 14)
