ALIVE AGAIN
Luke 15:11-24
Key Verse 15:24
For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.
1. Read verses 11-13. From the younger son and the Father, what can we learn about our Father in Heaven and about ourselves? What do you do with your share given from God?
2. Read verses 14-16. What was the result of His wild living – “life without God”? What shows that the younger son hit rock bottom? What can we learn about ourselves?
3. Read verses 17-20a. At his lowest point, what happened to the younger son (17)? Describe how he came to make the decision. (18-19) Why is it critical that he “got up and went to his father”? What could have kept him from this crucial step? What can we learn about repentance?
4. Read verses 20b-21. How did the father welcome his son? What does this teach us about our heavenly Father? How would you respond to the Father’s love?
5. Read verses 22-24. What did the father want to do for his son? How and why did he celebrate? What do the robe, ring and sandals represent? What does this teach about God’s restorative love? Based on the
passage, how can someone be made “alive again”?
