United with Christ
Romans 6:1-14
Key Verse: 6: 13
1. Read verses 1. How is your response to God’s grace? Can we use grace as an excuse to sin? (1, 5:20, Pro 26:11)
2. Read Verses 2-4. How does Paul explain the change that occurs in a person when they become a Christian? What does it means to be “Baptized into Christ” (1Co12:13, Eph4:4-6, Gal3:26-28), and to be “baptized into his death” (Mk10:38-39, Ph1:29, 1Pe2:21)? How does God’s grace manifest in one’s life? (4, Jn 3:3; 2Co 5:17)
3. Read verses 5-7. What does it mean to ‘be united with him in his death” and “be crucified with him”? What results does it bring about? (Gal2:20) Do you believe it is possible to be free from sin?
4. Read 8-10. If we died with Christ, what would our hope be? Why does death have no mastery over Christ? What does it mean that Christ died to sin once for all and that he lives to God?
5. In the light of Jesus’ death and resurrection, how should we count ourselves and what does it mean? (11) Read verses 12-14. What can you learn about a New life and our spiritual warfare? Are you living a New Life practically?
